How to use it

  1. Step 1 of 6: A Still need this? card shows at the top of Home, one at a time, and in Worth a look on each sheet’s Recurring payments (it opens all of them at once, each answered on its own), and on Plan › Subscriptions, when it matters: a yearly renewal, a price rise, two services doing the same job, or one you’ve paid for a while.
  2. Step 2 of 6: Each card has one row of buttons: Keep, Stop it, Pay less, Later and Not regular. Still need it? Tap Keep. If not, tap Stop it to see where to stop it: Manage subscription opens its page, or How to stop it shows the steps (for a gym, a tutor or a delivery, what to tell them and, if a card or account pays it, the standing instruction to stop). Answered by mistake? Tap Undo.
  3. Step 3 of 6: Not now? Tap Remind me and pick Tomorrow at 10:00, In 3 days or Before the next charge; the button then shows when. The card stays as it is on every device until you’re done, and Keep it takes you back to asking.
  4. Step 4 of 6: Done? Tap Stopped it. Arc stops expecting it and shows what you keep a year.
  5. Step 5 of 6: On a shared sheet, everyone who can edit it gets the same question about its recurring payments (viewers aren’t asked), unless the sheet’s owner picks Only me in Sheet settings › Alerts › Who’s asked: then only the owner is asked. Whoever answers settles it for everyone, and the others see who did, like Meera stopped it or Kept by Om; only they can Undo. A reminder is just for the person who set it, and only they can change it: the others see Om set a reminder for Sun 10:00 until it has passed. Clear an answer from Home with a swipe left (on the web, ✕). Each payment on Recurring keeps who did what, like Stopped by Meera · 24 Oct. If the sheet’s owner turns Ask if I still need subscriptions off, it’s off for everyone there.
  6. Step 6 of 6: Not now, but not an answer either? Swipe the card left on Home (on the web, ✕ Clear) to clear it from your Home on all your devices; Undo brings it back. Until then it’s cleared everywhere: not in Activity, Worth a look or Plan either, and no notification about it. Arc shows it again when it would have asked after Later. An Is this your … payment? question you clear comes back once, after 7 days; clear it again and Arc doesn’t ask again. You can still change, pause or stop the payment from its own page.

Good to know

  • When a reminder you set comes, a banner at the top says what to do, with Stopped it and Later (tomorrow at 10:00); on iPhone it’s a notification too. A yearly renewal within 10 days or a price rise may also get a notification of its own, at most one a week, never at night.
  • What you keep counts as earned once the next charge doesn’t come. If one comes anyway, Arc asks once whether you’re still paying for it. On a shared sheet, Saved with Arc counts it for everyone in the sheet, viewers too, and says who did it (Stopped by Meera); interest kept by paying on the due day stays your own.
  • Downgrade (Pay less, for a gym or a tutor) tracks it at the new amount. To stop being asked on a sheet, turn off Ask if I still need subscriptions in Sheet settings › Alerts.
