Step 1 of 5: When Arc is sure, it fills the field for you and says why, like “Arc filled this from your past entries”.
Step 2 of 5: When it isn’t sure, it shows up to three likely chips. Tap one, or tap More to see every option.
Step 3 of 5: A badge means Arc wants a second look: Check it on iPhone, or what to check on the web, like Check the amount. Changing the field clears it. Needs an amount (or a category) means you add it before saving.
Step 4 of 5: Each time you save, Arc remembers what you picked for that shop or person, so next time it can fill it. It fills only what you’ve agreed on: if you change it, your last picks show as chips until you pick the same twice.
Step 5 of 5: Every entry keeps who was paid, apart from its title: the line under the title reads like “Zepto · from a bank text”. Title it anything (“Paneer and cornflakes”): it stays Zepto, and the next Zepto text is titled Zepto. Tap the line to rename the payee or change it (see Title and payee).

Arc reads everything on your device first. Only when it can’t tell does it ask Arc AI, with account numbers, references and balances masked. Settings › Arc AI › Use Arc AI for unsure entries is one switch for you on every device: turn it off and nothing goes to the cloud, from your iPhone or the website.
Arc AI has a daily allowance: 5 shop lookups and 3 AI picks a day on Free, 30 and 15 on Pro. Settings › Arc AI shows what you’ve used, like “2 of 5 lookups · 1 of 3 AI picks used today”. When it’s used up you’ll see when it’s back (“Resting until 5:30 am”, in your time; it resets at midnight UTC). Entries Arc already filled stay, and Arc keeps filling from your history and its merchant list meanwhile.
Settings › Arc AI › What Arc remembers lists, per sheet, each payee Arc fills (and the other names it matches, like Kiranakart Technologies for Zepto) and each account’s payment method: edit, merge or forget any of them. On UPI, the app you paid a payee with wins over your account’s usual one. What Arc learns is shared within the sheet; on the web, Arc AI shares your iPhone’s daily allowance.
