How to use it
- Step 1 of 5: In New entry, tap Someone pays back once and pick the person, like Mom. Arc remembers them for that sheet, so next time it’s one tap on Mom pays back.
- Step 2 of 5: The entry stays in your list with a Mom pays back badge, but it doesn’t count as your spending. The summary shows Mom pays back ₹4,800.
- Step 3 of 5: Once the month (or cycle) has ended, Settle up pins her statement, Mom · October · ₹4,800, with the list. Tap Send to Mom to share it with a payment link.
- Step 4 of 5: When the money arrives, open New entry, choose Reimbursement, pick Mom under From (or Add someone: a guest doesn’t need Arc), and type the amount, the day and how she paid. Or tap Mark as paid on her statement. For one entry, open it and tap Mom paid this back.
- Step 5 of 5: Already logged her money as income? Open it and tap This was a reimbursement, or change its type to Reimbursement. Money in can be switched to Reimbursement before you log it too: in the bank SMS inbox, Arc AI’s review, the iPhone share sheet and a statement import.
Where to find it
- On the web
- New entry › Someone pays back; New entry › Reimbursement; Sheet › Settle up; Sheet settings › General › Paid back
- On iPhone
- New entry › Someone pays back; New entry › Reimbursement; Sheet › Settle up; Sheet settings › General › Paid back
Good to know
- Most entries on a sheet paid back? In Sheet settings › General › Paid back, turn on Mark new expenses as paid back by Mom. It’s your own setting, and you can untick it on any entry. If Mom is in the sheet, she sees those entries with a You pay back badge, as her spending.
- A reimbursement clears her oldest entries first, skipping ones already marked paid on their own. Paid part? The rest carries over. Paid more? Arc asks Keep the extra as credit? It shows as Reimbursed by Mom, never as income. The Reimbursements filter lists them with every entry she pays back, marked Paid back ✓ or ₹200 left.
- Paying someone back yourself? When you owe someone, Reimbursement in New entry offers Paid back to me · I paid back: choose I paid back and pick Om under To. Or open the expense and tap This was paying Om back. It clears what you owe, oldest first, shows as Paid back Om, never as spending, and Om confirms it if he uses Arc.
