Step 1 of 4: Open a sheet with other people, a guest or someone who pays you back (a personal sheet gets Settle up too, once it has a guest or a payback) and tap its Settle up button at the top (on iPhone, ≡ at the top right › Settle up), or the balance strip above your entries.
Step 2 of 4: Simplified shows the fewest payments that settle everyone. Tap Why? to see the debts each one replaces.
Step 3 of 4: Owed money? Tap Request to send a payment link. Owe money? Tap Pay to pay with a UPI app, or I paid once you have (on the web, I paid is in the ··· menu).
Step 4 of 4: When someone says they paid you, tap Got it once the money arrives, or Not yet. Payments you record yourself count at once.

Every debt lists exactly who owes whom from each split. Paying those works too. You can forgive what someone owes you: ··· on the web, swipe left on iPhone.
Pay one entry on its own: open it and tap Mark paid (I paid if you owe, or Mom paid this back for one she pays back), or open a person’s entries in Every debt. Payments as a whole skip entries already paid.
Splits and reimbursements are paid separately. Money someone pays you back (Record reimbursement here, or Reimbursement in New entry) clears only what they pay back, never a split.
