Bank SMS by hand

Before iOS 27 the automation doesn’t come with the shortcut, so you build it in Shortcuts.

On the web and the iPhone app

Shown on iOS 27. On iOS 26 the screens look a little different: choose Run Immediately, tap Next, then add Run Shortcut.

How to use it

  1. Step 1 of 6: Get the shortcut: in Arc, open Settings, then Bank texts. Tap Add the Arc shortcut, download it, and add it to Shortcuts.
  2. Step 2 of 6: In Shortcuts, open Automation. Tap +, then Edit, and choose Message. (On iOS 26, tap + and choose Message.)
  3. Step 3 of 6: Change Sender to Message and type a. Keep Confirm Before Run off, so it runs immediately. (On iOS 26, type a under Message Contains, choose Run Immediately, tap Next, then tap New Blank Automation.)
  4. Step 4 of 6: Add a Run Shortcut action. Pick Arc · Bank SMS, and set its Input to Message. Then go back (‹). That saves it. (On iOS 26, tap Done.)
  5. Step 5 of 6: The first time it runs, iOS asks: Allow “Arc · Bank SMS” to run actions from “Arc”? Tap Allow. To get this done now, tap Allow Arc in the setup.
  6. Step 6 of 6: Back in Arc, tap Send a test message. A sample bank text lands in your inbox, ready to log.

Try it

Pick a text. See what Arc keeps, and what it ignores.

Where to find it

On the web
The SMS setup page › On a version before iOS 27? Setup is on your iPhone.
On iPhone
Home › your photo (top right) › Settings › Automatic logging › Bank texts › On a version before iOS 27? (on iOS 26, Bank texts opens these steps)

Good to know

  • Why “a”? Shortcuts needs something to look for, and almost every text has one. The Arc shortcut then checks each text for money words before Arc sees it.
  • On iOS 27 the automation comes with the shortcut, switched off, and you only turn it on: see the Bank SMS guide.
